Hi everyone! I'm sorry I've been absolutely and totally MIA – back-to-school shopping and first-week adjustments just got the best of me. But!!!!! I’m back and better than ever with a new review! Let’s talk about Clark Street. In the bustle of LA’s wannabe New York strip of Larchmont, Clark Street is an absolute favorite of mine. Their grilled cheese is to die for – I feel ravenous when I come in contact with it – and their beverages are always pleasant and chilly! So, matcha!
On Wednesday, I tried a strawberry Shiso matcha and was basically knocked right off my feet. Oh my gosh. It was absolutely delicious! Strong matcha flavor, as is typical for Clark Street, but the strawberry flavor just added so much more depth that I didn't know I needed. I got the drink with oat milk (i'm lactose intolerant, if you have yet to notice), and I am so in love with this drink. The ratio of ice to matcha is always a bit spotty — too much ice causes the drink to get watered down, especially in this triple-digit heat. But do not fret; the matcha isn't grainy and maintains all the typical qualities needed to produce a delicious matcha. I also absolutely love the people who work at Clark Street! They're always so friendly, and I get my matcha excellent and quick, which I appreciate, especially if I'm heading to class. If this drink is seasonal, I will be so devastated: it would be diabolical to limit this drink, so please try it ASAP.
I paired the matcha with an orange-currant scone, which was so yummy, too!! It has a robust orange flavor with a nice sour kick from the currant! Growing up, I loved to eat fresh black and red currants at my grandmother’s house, so the scone was nostalgic. Take this with a grain of salt, though, if you're not a big fan of crumbly scones because the only scone I love is a crumbly one!!!! Overall, it was perfectly baked, perfectly paired, and another fantastic matcha in LA! I promise to do my best not to disappear for several weeks again, and I hope to give you guys another review soon!
Until then, happy sipping!
Gabs
